Why track? Indian democracy is based on a system of checks and balances amongst the legislative, judicial and executive organs. This system, found in varying degrees across democracies of the world and prevents concentration of power by any one organ.  ​ Most environmental issues we come across on a day to day basis are connected with executive action or inaction, which is in turn guided by laws passed by the legislature and interpreted by the judiciary.  An important source of guidance provided by the legislature and judiciary is to be found in the language of our Ministers, Members of Parliament, Judges and Experts.
